House, Faerieglen
ProReno was hired to assist in the renovation of a house in Faerieglen, Pretoria. The project entailed the revamp of the entire home alongside interior decorator, Gerna Ernst of Full Circle Design. The vision for this contemporary 5-bedroom family home was to keep the design modern with clean lines while adding wood accents in every room of the house to keep some warmth.
To create an optimal flow between the modernised spaces in this three-story Anton Rupert house, the interior was completely gutted and re-designed. The primary focus was on the synergy between the kitchen, bar, dining room, living room and outdoor entertainment area to serve both intimate family gatherings as well as large functions.
Gerna incorporated modern fittings and finishes, including various custom furniture from local high-end retailers to add an element of luxury. Accent finishes such as metals, wood and high gloss surfaces were included to create a sensory experience and match the natural colour palette.
Kitchen & Scullery
Strong horizontal lines and some floating units were used in this tranquil but striking contemporary kitchen. The look was created with the use of Niemann SA’s Dunkelgrau High Gloss and PG Bison’s Melawood Greythorne materials for the cabinets. Beautiful quartz surfaces from ProQuartz complimented the cabinetry with a stunning contrast between light and dark grey stone and varying thicknesses creating the raised island seating.
Fireplaces
Having a fireplace installed can really enhance the look and the feel of any room. Fires produce a more natural type of warmth and provide a great means of relaxation and calm, thus fits in perfectly with the original goal of the client. In this instance, we used Dekton porcelain for the fireplace design because of its durability and high resistance to fire and heat.
Bedrooms
Each of the five bedrooms dons the same look with a combination of PG Bison’s Melawood and Novolam colours (Metro with Oxide, Greythorne or Folkstone Grey) with various Quartz worktops to create a stunning masterpiece.
To increase the unique-factor, the main bedroom consists of various display areas to show off designer shoes and bags owned by the lady of the house. Every bedroom owns its sense of calm and it’s easy to get lost in a book or daydream while comfortably seated on the bench-seating under the window. The chosen colours (cool white and grey) brings the tranquility of the outdoor environment inside. To add a final touch of luxury, we installed Blum hinges and drawer runners with Blumotion (soft-close function) on all cupboards.
